Peggy Jernigan Burton is a graduate of Middle TN State University with a degree in Music Performance. Her singing career started in middle school, where she sang lead in a Gospel Trio that toured as well as appeared regularly on a local TV Show. As the soloist for the Midlander Jazz Band in college, she developed a love of Big Band music. However, her background includes all genres of music, from Opera to Country.
She has served as Orchestra Director for numerous Broadway productions both locally and abroad and has had lead roles in many on stage performances... She became Vocalist for the South Jackson Street Band in the early nineties.
She Currently teaches private Vocal and Piano students, helps host ‘Just Plain Living’ on Charter TV and serves as Performing Art’s Chairman for The South Jackson Performing Arts Center in Tullahoma, TN.
